Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tone Bell, Bresha Webb and Vanessa Lachey in NBC’s Truth Be Told – (Photo by: Ben Cohen/NBC)
On this episode we preview NBC’s new comedy Truth Be Told. It stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Franklin & Bash, Saved By the Bell), Vanessa Lachey (Dads), Tone Bell (Bad Judge, Whitney) and Bresha Webb (Love That Girl!).
Truth Be Told is based on the life of creator DJ Nash, creator of NBC’s Growing Up Fisher, and is about two diverse couples who are both neighbors and best friends. They navigate through life together and can’t help but analyze and obsess over everything. From race and sex to anything else your parents told you never to talk about, they’ll be talking about it. No topic is out of bounds for this unbelievably outspoken group.
While Truth Be Told wants to be provocative and get people talking, it fails out of the gate by traversing well-worn territory without any new perspective or at least being somewhat humorous. I like the cast, but watching this had me thinking two things: 1) That I wish TNT’s Franklin & Bash was still on and 2) How fast do you think NBC can get The Carmichael Show back into production?
