On this episode we preview Netflix’s new comedy Master of None. It stars Aziz Ansari (Parks and Recreation), Eric Wareheim (Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!), Kelvin Yu, Lena Waithe and Noel Wells (Saturday Night Live).

Master of None is loosely based on Ansari’s own life experiences and follows the personal and professional life of Dev, a 30-year-old actor in New York who can barely decide what he wants to eat, let alone figure out what he wants to do with the rest of his life. It hits on varying subjects like having children, the plight of the elderly, the immigrant experience, dating and how to find the most delicious pasta for dinner.

While I found Master of None to be more sometimes humorous social commentary than laugh out loud funny comedy, the third episode sold me on it. That’s probably because it was both. I like a show that has a voice, a point of view, as Ansari and co-creator Alan Yang definitely do here. I look forward to checking out the next seven episodes.
