On cable tonight, IFC has first season finale of Monty Python: Almost the Truth, MTV has the TV movie premiere of My Super Psycho Sweet 16, and USA has the series premiere of White Collar.
On Episode 47, “The First One With No Topic,” of the TV times Three podcast, Amrie, Rae and I talk about some TV related news items and expand our discussion of the previous week in primetime to more shows than we have been covering. Plus, I talk a little bit about my visit to the set of Stargate Universe.
Smallville (The CW): New. Oliver has been abducted and Lois is criticizing Clark for not telling her about Oliver being suicidal.
Stargate Universe (Syfy): New. A plan is hatched to abandon ship with it on a collision course, but then they find that they can’t get everyone on the shuttle. Plays again later. Last week’s episode replays right before.
White Collar (USA): Series Premiere. A top FBI agent ends up teaming up with an imprisoned con man to go after a ruthless counterfeiter. The FBI agent was the one that put him behind bars. Run 72 minutes. Plays again later twice. I really like this show, as it is a lot of fun. I picked it as one of my favorite new shows for the fall. It will fit in nicely with the rest of USA’s “Characters Wanted” lineup. I really liked that it sets up more than just a mismatched buddy cop scenario to go about solving the case of the week, but gave the con an overall mystery he is out to solve in addition to what help he provides the FBI. Plus, it’s got Kelly Kap…I mean Tiffani Thiessen.
Law & Order (NBC): New. An abortion protester is the lead suspect in the murder of a doctor.
Dollhouse (FOX): New. Murder and obsession are the result of Sierra’s connection to Rossum Corp.
Sanctuary (Syfy): New. The team is dealing with the Cabal attacks on the Sanctuary network. Plays again later.
Bravo has five James Bond movies today.
Discovery Channel has six episodes of Deadliest Catch.
