Prime Picks

The Flash (The CW): New. The Weather Wizards comes to Central City to avenge his brother’s death. Cisco figures something out about the night they captured the Reverse Flash. Barry and Linda go on a weird double-date with Eddies and Iris.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (ABC): New. Skye’s father has put together a group of super-villains to get vengeance against S.H.I.E.L.D. May brings in her ex to help fix team unity.

Justified (FX): New. Raylan and Boyd are both testing Ava’s loyalty. Runs 61 minutes. Plays twice and again later.

Solid Selections

Pretty Little Liars (ABC Family): New. An unexpected witness testifies at Alison’s trial. Ezra and Caleb don’t agree on what Mike should do if he has to testify. Plays again later. Last week’s episode replays earlier this evening.

iZombie (The CW): Series Premiere. Medical resident gets turned into a zombie at while attending a party on a boat. She ends up going to work at the medical examiner’s office to have easy access to brains. Her family and friends are worried about her complete change in demeanor. She finds that when she eats the brains that she gets some of their memories too and begins using this information to help the police catch killers. That is the basic premise, but there is way more to this show than that. Many are calling it Veronica Mars where Veronica is a zombie, but I think it is Tru Calling mixed with Veronica Mars with some latter season Chuck thrown in. A similar premise to Calling with the humor and bigger overall mystery of Mars and you’ll just have to see what aspect of Chuck shows up. All-in-all it is a lot of fun. So much so that I will probably re-watch the first four episodes as they air even though I’ve seen them already. Check out some video interview with the cast and co-creators of iZombie. The one with co-creator Diane Ruggiero is my favorite. Wish we could have talked to her longer.

Sirens (USA Network): New. A family barbecue is in danger from a drunken brawl between Cubs and Sox fans. Runs 31 minutes. Plays again later.
Cougar Town (TBS): New. Jules tries reading. Grayson attempts to actually pay attention to what his friends are saying. This is the 100th episode. Runs 30 minutes. Plays again later.

Other Options

  • Episodes (Showtime): Repeat. This past Sunday night’s fourth season finale episode, “Episode 409,” replays. Runs 30 minutes.
  • Fresh off the Boat (ABC): New. The “Pilot” episode replays. Runs 30 minutes.
  • The Mindy Project (FOX): New. Mindy starts to show. Jeremy begins dating again after recent heartbreak. Plays after a repeat New Girl and runs 30 minutes.
  • One Big Happy (NBC): Series Premiere. Two friends, he is straight and she is a lesbian, which have decided to have a baby together since they are both single and in their 30s deal with complications when he falls in love and gets married overnight. Runs 30 minutes. This show is pretty bad. Like the cast, but they feel like they are just going through the motions, especially Elisha Cuthbert who was fantastic in Happy Endings. I’ve seen the first three and it doesn’t improve any in subsequent episodes.
  • Undateable (NBC): Season Premiere. Justin tries to have a one night stand. A new bartender has been hired. Leslie thinks a picture hanging at her gym is of her. Runs 30 minutes. If you enjoyed the first season, you’ll continue to enjoy season two. The first two episodes are just as fun.
