‘Twas the TV Week Before Christmas – 2015

‘Twas the week before Christmas in a year of 409 scripted shows,
Most were on holiday hiatus, but that’s how this time of year goes.
The remotes were all tucked away nicely next to the TV gear,
As we pondered catching up with stuff before the New Year.

But, was there actually some new stuff to watch this week,
Or was the TV schedule outlook really that bleak.
So I looked around the channel guides for what to see,
And here is some of the stuff coming this week on TV.

Saturday has the beginning of the college bowl season,
But NFL Network has the Jets at Cowboys for some reason.
TV Land has Instant Mom ending its series run,
Yet Fey and Poehler hosting SNL should be more fun.

Hallmark Channel has A Christmas Melody movie,
And Ash vs Evil Dead on Starz is always quite groovy,
You could watch The Christmas Spirit on Lifetime,
Yet The Returned or Spotless could be prime.

Sunday has a new season of CBS’ Undercover Boss,
And NBC has the Cardinals at Eagles, who can’t afford a loss,
Into the Badlands ends its first season on AMC,
And there’s The Librarians and Agent X on TNT.

E! has The Royals and Starz has Flesh and Bone,
And FOX has the 64th Miss Universe taking the thrown,
Hallmark Channel ventures into Christmas Land,
And Showtime has finales for The Affair and Homeland.

Monday has more NFL action with the Lions at Saints on ESPN,
And TNT has Major Crimes and Legends,
ABC has The Great Holiday Baking Show season finale,
And The Great Christmas Light Fight has their S.3 final tally.

Tuesday’s best bet is Bravo’s Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce,
But don’t forget The Expanse on Syfy of course,
truTV has the first finale of Adam Ruins Everything,
And USA Network has the WWE Smackdown wrestling ring.

Wednesday has a new RocketJump on Hulu streaming,
And CBS has the I Love Lucy Christmas Special gleaming,
USA Network has your WWE Tribute to the Troops pass,
And NBC has the animated How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Christmas Eve has the Chargers at Raiders on NFL Network tonight,
Or watch Dawn of the Croods season one on Netflix take flight,
TBS begins their annual 24 hours of A Christmas Story for you,
And CMT tries something similar with A Christmas Story 2.

The CW has Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol where he sings,
Or NBC has It’s a Wonderful Life where an angel gets wings,
ABC has A Charlie Brown Christmas playing once more,
But that’s all to get ready for tomorrow and what’s in store.

Christmas Day has five NBA games on ESPN and ABC to pack a punch,
But the Cavaliers at Warriors is probably the best of the bunch,
CBS has The Andy Griffith Show Christmas Special to view,
And PBS has a Call the Midwife Holiday Special too.

BBC America has been playing Doctor Who episodes since Tuesday,
But The Doctor is back today in his annual Christmas special way,
I certainly will be watching “The Husbands of River Song” with glee,
Who else will be watching, who will be joining me?

At this point it will be only a week until the New Year gets going,
And all the new and returning shows have new episodes flowing,
Hopefully you’ll have cleaned off the DVR and have plenty of space,
Because shows keep coming at an increasingly speedy pace.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
