Tonight on the Tube: Bernie and Malcolm on the Threshold of Numbers

by @ 2:51 pm. Filed under Tonight on the Tube

Prime Picks

The Bernie Mac Show (Fox): Consistently funny and on tonight’s show when Bernie enters a celebrity marathon; Vanessa says she will finish the in front of him.
Malcolm in the Middle (Fox): This family at Burning Man has got to be funny.

Threshold (CBS): This show is better in the hour-long format. The two hour premiere was to long and drawn out. It has sort of an X-Files vibe. Trying to figure out the overall alien invasion by tracking down and investigating weird occurrences around the country.

Numbers (CBS): This is the best show on Friday nights by far. On tonight’s episode Don and the team investigate a heist at a jewelry store where the bad guys have kidnapped the wife and daughter of the owner.

Solid Selections

What I Like About You (WB): What a shock Holly feels left out when Vince goes to a game with Gary instead of her.
Twins (WB): If you are looking for comedy in the first hour of primetime this is your the second best selection unless you think Super Nanny is funny.

Reba (WB): Reba and Van team up to invest in real estate. I am sure that everything goes smoothly.
Living with Fran (WB): Allison doesn’t want one but Fran throws a surprise sweet 16 party anyway.

Inconceivable (NBC): This show is pretty bad. Too many characters with too many stories told in short little pieces making this show to jumpy and hard to watch.

Other Options

Ghost Whisperer (CBS): This is an OK drama but not nearly as good as Joan of Arcadia.

Killer Instinct (Fox): This was probably one the worst new shows I have seen so far this season. Tonight it gets a second chance but I won’t hold my breath.

20/20 (ABC): Ordeals, books and signing tour stories are told.

Cable Choices

Biography (A&E): Tonight is the life story of comedian Richard Pryor.

$40-a-Day (Food Network): Watch the recently married Rachel Ray in this repeat episode trying to eat on just forty bucks in Paris.
Rachel Ray’s Tasty Travels (Food Network): See her favorite spots for good food in New York City.

Nip/Tuck (FX): Cosmetic surgery on an ape is just one of the surgeries performed tonight.

Tonight on the Tube: Superman, CSI and Without a Trace

by @ 4:08 pm. Filed under Tonight on the Tube

This is the worst best night of TV. Too much good stuff on, VCRs and DVRs will be working overtime tonight.

Prime Picks

Smallville (WB): The season premiere tonight. This is supposed to be the season we have been waiting for and it all starts off with tonight’s episode titled the Arrival. We get to see the Fortress of Solitude and more.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (CBS): TV’s most watched show is back with more strange cases to solve. Tonight is a bad case of room service where a movie star whose fame was on the rise is found in his hotel room dead. Of course this was after a night of carousing with a few groupies.

Without a Trace (CBS): Tonight’s season premiere starts us where we left off last season with an ambush that severely wounds Martin and kills the person he and Danny were transporting.

Solid Selections

Alias (ABC): On tonight’s season premiere Sydney learns that Vaughn may be a double agent. She vows to find out the truth while questioning her relationship.

Everwood (WB): Tonight is the season premiere. With Smallville and Everwood moving to Thursday night The WB is definitely trying to compete with the big boys.

ER (NBC): The second best choice in the third hour of primetime tonight.

Other Options

Everybody Hates Chris (UPN): The first episode last week was very funny.
Will & Grace (NBC): Tonight’s season premiere is supposed to be done live. So if they screw up you get to see it. Could be fun.

Reunion (Fox): It is already 1988 and we know of two of them that aren’t the dead one. Who could it be?

Primetime (ABC): Actor George Clooney talks about his upcoming film about journalist Edward R. Murrow.

Cable Choices

Emeril Live (Food Network): Tonight in this repeat it is Bam versus Spam, where Emeril gets a visit from Sam Choy.

Mad Money (CNBC): What Jim Cramer give investing advice like no other. The lighting round is great to watch.

Dirty Jobs (Discovery Channel): Learn about sewer inspectors, now that is a dirty job.

Notes

The series premiere of Night Stalker is tonight on ABC in the second hour of primetime but with the competition on this night, who will be watching?

Tonight on the Tube: Martha, Veronica and New York

by @ 5:12 pm. Filed under Tonight on the Tube

A little late on tonight’s picks, selection, options and choices, well at least for the east coast.

Prime Picks

The Apprentice: Martha Stewart (NBC): It’s dueling flower shops on tonight’s episode. Who will be told that they don’t fit in? You don’t fit in, Goodbye but at least you get a nice handwritten note.

Veronica Mars (UPN): So, who is at the door anyway? And will they be able to capture the magic of last season with a new mystery to solve on tonight’s season premiere?

CSI: NY (CBS): The team gets new offices and Dr. Hawkes joins them out in the field in tonight’s season premiere.

Solid Selections

So You Think You Can Dance (Fox): The finale of this dance competition is tonight. If you have been watching it, you will probably want to watch the final dance off tonight.

Lost (CBS): Now that they are down the hatch, what will happen next?

Invasion (CBS): Of the alien invasion shows that have debuted this season, this was the most creepy and intriguing of the bunch.

Other Options

Still Standing (CBS): A couple of solid comedies if you are looking to start your night off with a few laughs.
Yes, Dear (CBS): If you watch Still Standing then you might as well stick around.

Criminal Minds (CBS): This is not the best show but it is the best third option in the second hour of primetime.

Law & Order (NBC): If you watched SVU last night then you will want to see the conclusion tonight.

Cable Choices

Emeril Live (Food Network): Tonight Emeril is cooking up some old-fashioned fruit desserts.

The E! True Hollywood Story (E!): The women from Desperate Housewives are profiled.

Good Eats (Food Network): Repeat episode about beets. Don’t really like beets but I like watching Alton Brown and the more scientific side of cooking.
Goof Eats (Food Network): Repeat episode about winter squash.
