Helping You Find the Prime in Primetime

The very good Burn Notice series premiere and The Starter Wife finale both replay today on USA. Sci Fi Channel has a replay of last week’s episode of The 4400 early. The first two episodes of Hey Paula! replay a couple of times during the day on Bravo, if for some strange reason you wanted to see the show and missed its premiere the other night.
America’s Got Talent (NBC): Repeat. The “New York Auditions†replay. Runs two hours.
America’s Funniest Home Videos (ABC): Repeat. Much fun with animals is had in this replay of the $100,000 final prize episode.
Jesse Stone: Night Passage (CBS): Released 2006. The second of four made for TV movies with Tom Selleck (Now on Las Vegas on NBC) as a former cop from LA that is now the police chief in a small town. Runs two hours. A fifth movie has been ordered by CBS, which will be titled “Thin Ice.â€

A new season of Doctor Who returns to Sci Fi beginning next Friday, July 6th. Sunday’s episode of Army Wives on Lifetime replays during the day today. Kyle XY replays an hour later tonight on ABC than it has the last couple of weeks. What will you be watching tonight?
Bones (FOX): Repeat. A young woman burns to death in a Miami hotel and Booth and Bones investigate.
Kyle XY (ABC): Repeat. Monday’s episode from ABC Family where Foss wants Kyle to work on his skills, but he just wants to be normal and XX is sent with Emily to find XY replays.
Numb3rs (CBS): Repeat. Many government agencies are looking for a sunken yacht that went down during a race.
George Lopez (ABC): Repeats. Two episodes of this cancelled comedy replay. This is the type of thing that makes no sense to me. Why they would spend time playing episodes of a show that won’t be back next fall. I mean, why don’t they replay Men in Trees episodes there? This is the timeslot that show will be in this fall.
Standoff (FOX): New. A weirdo who claims to be connected to Emily in some way kidnaps a little boy and wants to deal with her. It looks like there are two more episodes left after this one.
Law & Order: Criminal Intent (NBC): Repeat. The only witness to a rapper getting killed in a radio station lobby is an undercover cop.
Emeril Live (Food Network): New. It is a battle between Army and Navy in the kitchen tonight.
Paula’s Party (Food Network): Repeat. Paula cooks up some food inspired by the Country Fair. Plays again later.
Painkiller Jane (Sci Fi): New. Watch out for the “Ghost in the Machine.†Plays again later.

The TVaholic is back home from the Sci Fi Digital Press event up in Vancouver, B.C. over the last couple of days. Tours of the sets of Battlestar Galactica, Eureka, Flash Gordon and Stargate Atlantis were pretty cool. There is more to come on this, including pictures, videos and more, over the next few days. For me the Eureka tour was the best part, as it is one of my favorite shows from the last year. In news of the night, NBC has the series finale of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and USA has the finale of The Starter Wife and the series premiere of Burn Notice. Over on Bravo, they have the debut of Hey Paula! Why? Who knows!
My Name Is Earl (NBC): Repeat. Earl used to use a mailbox as a trash can and gets a bored Catalina to help him clean it.
The Office (NBC): Repeat. It is time again for the “Office Olympics†to replay. Got to love some of the games and the doves at the closing ceremony.
The Office (NBC): Repeat. Take some time to hop aboard the “Booze Cruise†with the all your favorite Mifflin mates. Jim tells Michael how he feels about Pam.
The Office (NBC): Repeat. Jim is worried that Michael will spill “The Secret†and tries to keep it from happening.
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (NBC): Series Finale. The last few weeks have been really great storytelling. I will be a little sad to see this go. Tonight the long night comes to an end, but may hold a new beginning for Matt and Harriet.
Smallville (The CW): Repeat. More Green Arrow action in this episode where he gets shot while trying to stop a carjacking and Lana finds out something disturbing about Lex.
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (CBS): Repeat. Catherine centric episode where she tries to tie two cases together while Grissom leaves for his sabbatical.
Men in Trees (ABC): Repeat. The “Pilot†episode replays. See how it all began.
The Closer (TNT): Repeat. “Grave Doubts†from Monday night replays, which is good because I missed it. The hotel I was staying at in Vancouver, B.C. did not have TNT.
The Starter Wife (USA): Miniseries Finale. Tonight is “Hour 6†where Molly’s two suitors compete for her affections. Pappy gets all the details of Joan getting kicked out of rehab. This episode plays again later and again on Saturday. The first five hours of the series plays earlier in the day and the whole series plays this Sunday during the day.
Burn Notice (USA): Series Premiere. Tonight’s episode plays commercial free. So, make sure to use the facilities before you sit down to watch. A spy gets fired and has to go out on his own to make a living, all while trying to find out who is behind what has happened to him. He goes about helping (A-Team style) those that can’t get help through normal channels. It looks like it might just be a whole lot of fun. Runs 67 minutes and plays again later.
Travel Channel has 12 episodes of Best Places to Find Cash and Treasures tonight.
VH1 has eight episodes of World Series of Pop Culture today.

Saving Grace, the new show starring Holly Hunter on TNT, has a new premiere date. It will now debut on Monday, July 23rd after The Closer, instead of Wednesday, July 18th, as originally scheduled. Heartland, which presently follows The Closer on Mondays, will move up a couple of hours and lead off the night. This will give TNT a three-hour primetime block of new shows, which is not something you normally see on most cable outlets. This may work out well for Saving Grace, putting another quirky female detective on the night, as Heartland has been losing about half its lead in. But, unfortunately for Heartland, I think I will still be watching Kyle XY on ABC Family in the first hour of primetime. What do you think of this move by TNT?
Hidden Palms (The CW): New. Two more episodes air tonight. Johnny wants to know more about the bloody costume of Greta’s in the first one and while news of Cliff’s affair with Eddie’s mom starts to get around. The finale is next Wednesday night.
Traveler (ABC): New. Jay and Will are going back to NYC, while Will is out for revenge of his girlfriend.
Last Comic Standing (NBC): Repeat. Auditions No. 3 replays.
Last Comic Standing (NBC): New. Auditions No. 4 and plays again on Bravo Thursday night.
CSI: NY (CBS): Repeat. Kyle Gallner (Veronica Mars) guests as Mac’ stepson and is a witness to a murder.
Emeril Live (Food Network): New. Emeril is joined in the kitchen by comic Patton Oswalt (The King of Queens).
Tyler Perry’s House of Payne (TBS): New. Two more episodes play tonight with CJ getting some financial help from Curtis and then the firefighters want a new TV. Next week, eight episodes play leading up to two new episodes.
Rescue Me (FX): New. Tommy gets help by the crew to get back with Colleen. Runs 66 minutes. This episode plays twice tonight and then replays Friday and Sunday nights.
Bravo has 10 hours of Project Runway.
