Over on cable, MTV has the winter premiere of Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County, WE has the series premiere of Party Mamas, Bravo has a Millionaire Matchmaker special and TNT has a Christmas in Washington 2007 special.

Prime Picks

Pushing Daisies (ABC): New. Paul Reubens (Pee Wee’s Playhouse) is back as scent expert Oscar Vibenius to help find out what is different about Chuck and Digby. Meanwhile, an insurance adjuster has been killed and Emerson is trying to get Ned to focus on the case. Ned is trying to patch things up with Chuck after his big revelation at the end of the last episode.

Criminal Minds (CBS): New. A case being investigated in rural Virginia bares a striking resemblance to one nearly twenty years earlier in the same area.

CSI: NY (CBS): New. Danny is working on a case that involves a boy from his old neighborhood and it hits to close to home. The rest of the CSIs are working a case that involves a seller of deadly pranks.

Solid Selections

Back to You (FOX): Repeat. Chuck wants to cover the lead story tonight, knowing that his former colleagues will be watching the broadcast.
‘Til Death (FOX): Repeat. FOX needs to find something better than this to be a companion to Back to You.

Private Practice (ABC): Repeat. The series premiere episode, “In Which We Meet Addison, a Nice Girl From Somewhere Else,” replays. Runs 62 minutes.

Dirty Sexy Money (ABC): Repeat. The “Pilot” episode replays, where after Nick becomes the Darlings family attorney in order to figure out what really happened to his father that died in a mysterious plane crash.

Cable Choices

Rise of the Video Game (Discovery Channel): New. Video games become simulations and give played the ability to experiment with some troubling scenarios. Plays again later.

MythBusters (Discovery Channel): New. The guys try to figure out if a person with no pilot experience whatsoever could learn to land a 747 safely in under an hour. Plays again later.

Tyler Perry’s House of Payne (TBS): New. One of Curtis’ old friends wants to get close with Claretha and a woman C.J. rescued is stalking him. “The Wench Who Saved Christmas” episode, with a special appearance by Madea (played by Tyler Perry) replays right after. Two new episodes play right before for a total of four episodes tonight. Three new episodes and a replay of the Madea Christmas episode play next week.

Other Options

  • Tyler’s Ultimate (Food Network): New. Tyler cooks up some Cornish game hens with fig glaze for a “Dinner Party.” Plays again later.

Sports Notes

  • ESPN has an NBA doubleheader with the Detroit Pistons at the Houston Rockets followed by the Utah Jazz at the Phoenix Suns.
  • ESPN2 has college basketball with Cincinnati at Xavier.

Late Night

  • Frank TV (TBS): Repeat. The “Ballpark Frank” episode from last night replays.
  • Law & Order: Criminal Intent (USA): Repeat. The “Offense” episode from a couple of weeks ago replays, where Logan and Falacci are investigating a possible rape by members of a college football team. The last new episode of the year plays tomorrow night.

TV Marathons

Bravo has 10 hours of Top Chef that includes two airings of the Top Chef: Holiday Special followed by five episodes of Project Runway.
Sci Fi has eight episodes of Stephen King’s Kingdom Hospital early.
