Prime Picks

Smallville (The CW): New. Tess has a team testing the crystal that was found in the Artic, which results in a beam of light being sent into the universe that brings Maxima, a queen from another planet, to Earth looking for a soul mate.

Grey’s Anatomy (ABC): New. Some leaky plumbing turns into a flood at Seattle Grace. George takes his residency exam again. Derek hopes he can get Meredith’s roommates to move out of the house. Runs 61 minutes.

Eleventh Hour (CBS): Series Premiere. A special science advisor to the FBI investigates cases of a scientific nature. In this first one, it looks like human cloning is taking place. Read my review and see why this is definitely worth watching.

Solid Selections

My Name Is Earl (NBC): New. Earl is trying to cross a stuntman off his list, but the guy has so many injuries that it is making it difficult.
Kath & Kim (NBC): Series Premiere. A recently married daughter wants to move back in with her mom, but her mom has already started to move on in her life with her daughter gone. Read my review and see why this really isn’t that solid of a selection, but more of a time filler for those waiting to watch The Office after Earl.

The Office (NBC): New. A seminar on ethics in business goes off the deep end when Michael gets everyone talking about the unethical things they have done at work. Runs 31 minutes.
Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday (NBC): Premiere Special. The not ready for primetime players are hopefully ready, as they bring “Weekend Update” to Thursday nights.

Life on Mars (ABC): Series Premiere. A New York detective gets hit by a car during an investigation in the present and wakes up in 1973. He helps the homicide squad in the past track a killer that is similar to the one he was after in the present. He also tries to figure out what has happened to him. This one looks good, but I haven’t seen it yet. Looking forward to it though.

Cable Choices

Good Eats (Food Network): Repeat. Alton brews the perfect cup of tea. Plays again later.
Food Detectives (Food Network): Repeat. Food myths are investigated. Plays again later.

American Chopper (TLC): Repeat. The guys make an ICEE bike. Plays again later.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FX): New. Dee takes the lead for a night out on the town, while the guys try and figure out who pooped in their bed. Runs 32 minutes. Plays again later.
Testees (FX): Series Premiere. Two guys test a new pill and something starts to happen to one of them, unfortunately it isn’t a funny thing that happens. Plays again later. Read my review of this terrible attempt at a comedy.

Other Options

  • Ace of Cakes (Food Network): New. The gang makes for Lebowski-fest. A repeat episode follows. Both play again later.
  • CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (CBS): Season Premiere. The team is dealing with the aftermath of Warrick being shot.
  • Iron Chef America (Food Network): Repeat. This past Sunday’s episode where Iron Chef Michael Symon took on his old culinary school roommate chef David Adjey replays. Plays again later.
  • Supernatural (The CW): New. Sam and Dean differ on how to handle a guy that changes into a flesh eating monster.

Hey Jason, what do you have against Ugly Betty?

  • Jason the TVaholic Oct 9, 2008, 6:26 pm

Helen, I don’t have anything against it, but I don’t have anything for it either. I watched the first part of the first season and just could never get into it. But, as always, if you think there is something good on that people should be watching that I didn’t mention, feel free to let us know in the comments.

Since, it sounds like you are a fan of the show, let us know why we should be watching.
