Tonight on the Tube: NCIS, One Tree Hill, Dirty Jobs, Boston Legal & American Idol

News & Notes

Download Episodes of One Tree Hill at Amazon UnboxTonight, CBS has part two of the three part Comanche Moon miniseries and FOX has the seventh season premiere of American Idol. Over on cable, TBS has the second season premiere of 10 Items or Less and WE has the season finale of Twisters Sisters.

Prime Picks

NCIS (CBS): New. A Muslim Marine is found dead near a mosque that is on the FBI’s terrorist watch list. Ducky refuses to perform and autopsy on him. It looks like there are two more episodes remaining after tonight.

One Tree Hill (The CW): New. Lucas’ editor, and girlfriend, is starting to wonder what has brought on his recent inspiration to begin writing again. Brooke and Peyton are putting a business plan together. Mouth tries to impress his boss. The Ravens basketball team seems to be making some progress. Last week’s season premiere, “4 Years, 6 Months, 2 Days,” is presently available as a free download at both Amazon Unbox and iTunes.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC): New. The unit investigates the attack of a Jewish boy. After interviewing his classmates, clues start to point in a certain direction. It looks like there is one episode left to air after tonight.

Solid Selections

American Idol (FOX): Season Premiere. Singers in Philadelphia take their shot at impressing the judges. This is my least favorite part of the show. Will probably start watching when they have the top 12 men and women start to compete. That is when it gets interesting, especially if there is anybody worth rooting for. If not, then probably won’t watch. Runs two hours.

Boston Legal (ABC): New. A woman wants to sue her husband’s law firm for causing their divorce. Denny is having way too much fun in the spotlight of a big case and is refusing help from Alan. Looks like they will have three episodes remaining after tonight.

Cable Choices

Good Eats (Food Network): Repeats. Two episodes replay with Alton getting himself in a pickle both times. Both replay again later.

Dirty Jobs (Discovery Channel): New. Jobs dealing with caves and steel mills are tried. Plays again later.

Nip/Tuck (FX): New. Christian is back into old habits. Sean is trying to get back at Christian with the hiring of a new receptionist. Dawn is in need of more surgery. Runs 63 minutes and plays twice.

Other Options

  • Comanche Moon (CBS): Part 2 of 3. The six-hour miniseries continues. The conclusion airs tomorrow night. It is based on the Larry McMurtry novel and is a prequel to Lonesome Dove. It stars Val Kilmer (Déjà vu, Spartan), Steve Zahn (Rescue Dawn, Sahara), Rachel Griffiths (Brothers & Sisters, Six Feet Under), Linda Cardellini (ER) and Elizabeth Banks (Scrubs). Runs two hours.
  • The Office (TBS): Repeats. The “Branch Closing” and “The Merger” episodes from season three replay.

  • ESPN2 has Australian Open tennis coverage and a college basketball game.
  • NBA TV has the Toronto Raptors at the Detroit Pistons.
