The first time I saw the commercial I was hopeful that it was a new Murder in Small Town X. Then they came out with a new commercial that looked more Saw-esque so I decided not to bother. Then they came out with a commercial featuring Jake 2.0 and I’m back on the fence again. They fact that they can’t decide how to promote it doesn’t exactly engender a lot of confidence though.
Heehee, the first time I saw an ad I immediately thought of Glory Days. That is not a bad thought but GD did lose me after a few episodes. However, the reviews for HI are good enough I’ll probably watch the whole run. Plus, you can’t miss with Christopher Gorham!
I have always enjoyed shows that leave you wondering who is doing what to who. I am looking forward to this show so i hope I am not dissappointed.
I’m definitely planning to watch. Initially, it was because I’m a follower of Elaine Cassidy, especially after seeing her work in The Ghost Squad on British TV. Then, I got intrigued by the producers’ plans to use social media and online storytelling as a promotional run-up to the program. Can’t say I’ve been wowed by what they’ve done, frankly; but I’ve followed it closely. Now we’ll see what the show itself is like…
I’m pretty sure I’m going to watch it. I really like the fact that they’re promoting it as a show with an end- that if you follow you will get resolution.
I like when a show has a definite purpose and planned ending.
This show appears to know it’s agenda and I look forward to seeing it.
I’m planning on watching. The “Harper’s Globe” stuff sounds interesting, especially with EQAL (folks behind lonelygirl15) collaborating on it.
I,m planning on watching. Why? because I have no life and I TIVO EVERYTHING.
I DEFINITELY plan on watching HARPER’S ISLAND! Finally, a show that really has my interest peaked. I refuse to read anything critics say about it because its just not the type of show they would enjoy anyway. I’m so excited to see something like this on NETWORK television and hope it proves to be a HUGE success.
So … bring it on … one-by-one!
I plan on Tivo-ing Harper’s Island to watch at my convenience. Based on the tv promo’s it sounds like a suspenseful murder mystery. Who? Why?
I am watching it because it will end after 12 weeks unlike some shows that go on forever and start getting really stupid.
I love a good mystery story. I’ll watch the first episode and decide then whether it will be worth my time to watch the rest. At least it seems to have a definite ending.
I want to watch it everyday because it will be suspenseful and interesting.
I really enjoyed lurking in the online community at Harper’s Island Globe. What a terrific idea!!! However, now that I’ve seen the premiere I’m soooo hooked :-) I love suspense and this has it in spades, but I have to say that I was surprised by the second death. I’m looking forward to seeing it each week.
I will be TiVoing the series, but as in any long serial with a tight storyline (effectively an extended miniseries) I prefer to watch multiple episodes at one time to see more of the story unfold.
The 10 little Indians genre usage of the “isolated spot where someone amongst us must be the culprit” has always been fertile ground for mysteries like the English tea-room mystery, but it has in more recent years become the stomping grounds of the teen slasher genre. hopefully this will be more former than latter — not that I mind a good gorefest, but with this much time allocated real character development and complicated multiple threads of plots would be welcomed. Sadly, early buzz has not been favorable so I look forward to this but with minor trepidation.
Thank God at least it appears they are committed to running the entirety of it — I was enjoying Reunion and was terribly annoyed when it was canceled with effectively only half a season to go until resolution.
I’m in for the long haul. I like the idea of a 13 episode series. If it works, you can bring it back as another 13 episodes with other people in another place. I have been staying away from spoiler sites on this one so I can maybe enjoy the shock of the deaths a little more. Right now, I have no idea who done it!
I enjoyed the first episode of Harpers Island & I am intrigued by the little girl, Taylor. I sense possibly some paranormal issues within the next few episodes. I will definitely be watching her very closely & wondering who her ‘New Friend’ is! She looks & acts like someone with deep issues & there is undoubtedly some form of evil lurking around her. The show has surely piqued my interest.
I have been looking forward to this show for quite a while. I haven’t watched the first episode because I was in the hospital but I do have it on my Tivo and plan on watching it this week. I hope it’s as good as the commercial’s made it look.
I didn’t catch the first episode, but hope to watch the next one.
I watch/Tivo lots of TV. This is one of those shows that I immediately wanted to add to my list of programs to watch. If successful; they can continue with a new cast and killer each season.
There is nothing like a horror mystery like this. There is so much going on already with family and friends and it seems everyone has an issue or is not normal. Even after the first episode. Alot of drama and gore. Should be fun week in and week out….
DVRing this series. Will Probably watch as a marathon. I had to block my ears today when the radio people were talking about it; they were interviewing Harry Hamlin
This is something my teenage son and I can watch after everyone else is asleep. Nothing like a litte murder mystery for 13-weeks before lights out!
I think this show is a neat idea!! It will be interesting to watch and try to figure out…I’m HOOKED!!!
From the ads it looks like a great show. I missed the first episode last week while I was on holidays in Vegas, but I have it on tivo so I’m going to watch it before the second episode tonight. Hope I’m not disappointed!
Husband and I both enjoyed the first week. Looking forward to the next 12 weeks. There is one character I really detest, but fear that person isn’t the “bad guy”. Drat!
Thanks to the 26 people who entered. I will be randomly selecting the winner later today and will update this post with that information.
