Veronica Mars - The Complete First Two SeasonsTonight, unfortunately, is the series finale of Veronica Mars on The CW. This was the biggest disappointment for the TVaholic from last week when ABC, CBS, The CW, FOX and NBC all announced their Fall 2007 TV Schedules. On the season finale front there is Dancing With the Stars on ABC, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit on NBC and NCIS on CBS. American Idol on FOX, has the final two performing in the last competition episode of the season, the finale is tomorrow. Law & Order: Criminal Intent will replay last night’s season finale episode in its normal timeslot on NBC. FOX has the series premiere of On the Lot, or you could call it American Filmmaker, after American Idol, so the House season finale will be next week. Also next week, is the season finale of Boston Legal, which was originally scheduled for tonight, but ABC decided to drag the reveal of the Dancing With the Stars winner out to two hours. How very American Idol of them!

Prime Picks

Veronica Mars (The CW): New. Weevil gets in a bit of trouble selling bogus debit cards on campus. Keith and Vinnie are debating for the upcoming special election for sheriff. Someone releases a video of Veronica and Piz in a compromising situation.

Veronica Mars (The CW): Series Finale. Veronica has a confrontation with Logan. Piz wants Veronica to know he had nothing to do with the tape. Veronica investigates the source of the tape. Keith wants to just protect his daughter. I still can’t believe that One Tree Hill has gotten yet another season, including a fast-forward past the college years, and Veronica Mars has not.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC): Season Finale. The trial of Fin’s stepson is about to begin.

Solid Selections

NCIS (CBS): Season Finale. Things start to unravel after the director returns from Europe. A drug dealer is holding Tony and his fiancé hostage.

Jesse Stone: Sea Change (CBS): Released 2007. The fourth in the series of made-for-TV movies about a small town police chief that reopens and old case that may be related to a rape aboard a yacht he is investigating now. Runs two hours.

Cable Choices

Emeril Live (Food Network): Repeat. Emeril shows you how to throw a tequila party.

The Closer (TNT): Repeat. Part 1 of 2 where Brenda’s mom comes for a visit. Part 2 plays right after. Season three begins on Monday, June 18th.

The Shield (FX): New. Vic finds out that he is being forced to leave his job. Shane has completely lost his mind and sleeps with a mob boss’ daughter. Runs 68 minutes and plays again later.

Other Options

  • American Idol (FOX): New. It is Blake Lewis vs. Jordin Sparks. Who do you think is going to win?
  • On the Lot (FOX): Series Premiere. The semifinalists make their first pitch. They have to shoot and edit a short film in 24 hours. A one-page scene must be shot in one hour. Reality mogul Mark Burnett and director Steven Spielberg created the show.

Sports Notes

  • ESPN has NBA Conference Finals action with the Utah Jazz at the San Antonio Spurs for Game 2 of their series.
  • ESPN2 has a WNBA game.
  • Versus has the Detroit Red Wings at the Anaheim Ducks in NHL Playoff action.

Late Night

  • Painkiller Jane (Sci Fi): Repeat. Last Friday’s episode, “Breakdown,” replays.
  • The Riches (FX): Repeat. Last night’s episode, “Anything Hugh Can Do, I Can Do Better,” replays where Doug/Wayne has to step in and run things while Hugh is away. Runs 68 minutes.
