Tonight on the Tube: Shaq, Eureka, Damages & Glutton for Punishment

Tonight is the season finale of Shaq’s Big Challenge on ABC. Flipping Out has its season premiere over on Bravo. Spike has the series premiere of Murder, where everyday people take a shot at solving real crimes. Tomorrow night, ABC begins burning off episodes of the cancelled series The Nine.

Prime Picks

NCIS (CBS): Repeat. Gibbs gets temporarily reinstated after a friend of his is threatened.

House (CBS): Repeat. A patient has a complete lack of the ability to feel pain.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC): Repeat. Stabler and Beck need a new witness to step forward when their case goes nowhere.

Solid Selections

Just for Laughs (ABC): Repeat and New. See heads popping out of toilets and more wacky fun.

Shaq’s Big Challenge (ABC): Season Finale. The final fitness tests are given and all the contestants get to meet the governor of Florida.

Primetime (ABC): New. More Family Secrets are revealed.

Cable Choices

Feasting on Asphalt (Food Network): Repeat. Part 2 of 4 has Alton Brown sampling some tasty pork and meeting a famous colonel. The next two parts play over the next two nights. Feasting on Asphalt 2 begins on Saturday, August 4th.

Eureka (Sci Fi): New. Carter gets whacked on the head and then seems to be living in a parallel universe where people are disappearing. Plays again later.

Damages (FX): New. Ellen sets a plan in motion to deliver her friend as a key witness against Frobisher, but Patty is unsure of the friend’s truthfulness. Runs 66 minutes and plays twice and again later. The “Pilot” episode is available as a free download on iTunes . It will also replay along with this episode on MyNetworkTV this Wednesday night.

Tonight on the Tube: Kyle XY, The Closer, Saving Grace & My Boys

Get The Closer Episodes at iTunesTonight is the second season premiere of the TBS comedy My Boys. Also, premiering tonight is Dr. 90210 on E! and a special with Martina McBride on ABC with someone trying to win a recording contract.

How I Met Your Mother (CBS): Repeat. This is a great episode with Marshall and Lily attempting to elope in Atlantic City.
The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS): Repeat. Christine tries to become more politically active.

Two and a Half Men (CBS): Repeat. Charlie ends up throwing a holiday party that he didn’t want and Evelyn tries to keep him away from his date.
Rules of Engagement (CBS): Repeat. The “Pilot” episode replays.

CSI: Miami (CBS): Repeat. A babysitter’s parents are murdered and the team investigates in an upscale neighborhood.

Solid Selections

Everybody Hates Chris (The CW): Repeat. The holiday episode, “Everybody Hates Kris,” replays.
All of Us (The CW): Repeat. Robert is spending time with Neesee’s new boyfriend and Dirk doesn’t like it.

6 Degrees of Martina McBride (ABC): New. Not a big country music fan, but the idea behind this show sounds interesting. Six country singers from around the country were given the opportunity to show they could get in contact with Martina McBride via the Six Degrees of Separation idea. If they could, then they would sing before and audience and the three best would then get a chance to learn a song and sing in studio with the help of Martina. Then a panel of judges would pick the winner. The winner’s song will be released tonight on iTunes and other online music outlets. Runs two hours.

Cable Choices

Kyle XY (ABC Family): New. Stephen’s father has a stroke, but he gets a second chance to make amends with him. Plays again late night tomorrow.

The Closer (TNT): New. A racially motivated gang shooting results in the loss of two Hispanic teens and the team must solve it and stop any possible retaliation. Plays again later.

Saving Grace (TNT): New. An oilman has been killed and they are investigating it and they find Lt. Yukon has a brother with info on the case. Plays again late night Thursday.

Tonight on the Tube: Side Order, The 4400, Entourage & My Boys Marathon

Entourage - SoundtrackThere is more good stuff than should be aloud on TV at the same time these days on Sunday nights. I am not talking about all the repeats on the networks, but all the new stuff on cable. Cable really has started to out do networks in the quality of shows department. Like, one of the best sitcoms to come out in the last year, My Boys. It has its second season premiere tomorrow night on TBS. If you didn’t get a chance to watch the first season, it plays early this morning in its entirety and is also available online at the TBS website. Next week, The Company miniseries premieres on TNT.

Prime Picks

The Simpsons (FOX): Repeat. Homer is helped by Santa’s Little Helper to escape a corn maze when he gets lost and then the dog gets into the police-dog academy. Runs 30 minutes. Have you seen The Simpsons Movie yet? It was really excellent.

Desperate Housewives (ABC): Repeat. This is the one where they focused on the guys and had good ole dead Rex Van De Camp do the narration.

Brothers & Sisters (ABC): Repeat. It is Valentine’s Day and the Senator and Kitty are finding it hard to avoid each other. Nora gets busted with and old friend.

Solid Selections

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (ABC): Repeat. A family has been living with the grandmother in her trailer and now they are getting a place of their own.

Cold Case (CBS): Repeat. The secret to what a got a teenager killed and dumped in a trash bin is revealed during the investigation.

Shark (CBS): Repeat. A young prosecutor with a wife dies in a car with a known prostitute and Stark tries to save his reputation while still prosecuting the case.

Cable Choices

Side Order of Life (Lifetime): New. While Jenny and Ian’s engagement may be off, it isn’t stopping them from getting together. Meanwhile, another one of Vivy’s close friends comes to visit and leaves Jenny jealous of her time with Vivy. Plays again later.

The 4400 (USA): New. Collier’s movement goes forward while Shawn is having a bit of trouble in is run for office. Runs 61 minutes and plays again later.

Entourage (HBO): New. Bets are being taken on the romantic prospects of Turtle and E, while Ari is bummed about his kid having to go to public school. Runs 30 minutes.
