How Did the Top 10 Guys Perform? – American Idol Season 7

Get American Idol Season 7 Perfomances at iTunesThis week the guys were singing classics from the 1970s. Overall, they didn’t really pick it up from last week’s performances. There were more misses than hits, but there were a couple of really good ones. Hopefully, we get more hits than misses with the girls tomorrow night.

Here’s how the TVaholic would rank last night’s Top 10 Guys:

  1. David Archuleta – Was the last to go and, while it was a slow song, he knocked it out of the park. Randy thought it was “brilliant” and that is was “one of the best vocals” that he has heard on the show ever. Paula thought it was “one of the most moving performances” she ever heard. Simon thought it was “risky,” but it “worked” and that he is the “one to beat” right now in this competition.
  2. David Hernandez – Randy said, “This is the David Hernandez we fell in love with.” Paula thought his “personality came out” this week. Simon thought it was “the best vocal of the night.” Simon was right, as it was definitely the best of the night. He was the sixth to take the stage.
  3. Chikezie – Randy said, “it was hot.” Paula thought is was “brilliant” and “fun.” Simon thought it was “a million times better than last week.” Had a really fun performance and sounded really good and was the second best up to that point, as he took the stage eighth.
  4. David Cook – Randy thinks he is the “real rocker for the boys.” Paula thinks he is the “real deal.” Simon thought it was “solid,” but that he doesn’t have “a lot of charisma.” He sounded pretty good. Was the ninth to take the stage.
  5. Luke Menard – Sounded pretty good, but it was an odd sounding song. Randy liked him better this week than last week even thought he had some pitch problems. Paula thought it was “a really great week for you.” Simon thought it was a “mistake” and that his performance didn’t have any “charisma” or “personality.” Was third to take the stage.
  6. Michael Johns – He was the first to take the stage and he set the bar pretty low for all of those to follow, as it was just an okay performance. Randy said, “I liked it.” Paula thought he was “consistent” and “charming.” Simon thought it was his “weakest performance so far.”
  7. Robbie Carrico – Was fourth up and at least it was upbeat and had some energy, but he didn’t sound that great. Randy thought he “did a pretty good job,” but it was “just okay.” Paula thought he “played it a little bit safe.” Simon thought the vocal was “okay” this week.
  8. Jason Castro – Was the second one up and proceeded to come in under the low bar set by Johns before him. This was a very boring performance. Randy thought it sounded a “little bit karaoke.” Paula thought he did a good job of making the song his own. Simon thought the “song was horrible” and the “vocals were very week.”
  9. Danny Noriega – Randy thought there was “some problems with the vocal.” Paula told him not to over think it. Simon thought he was “over concentrating.” It sounded pretty bad. He was the fifth to go and things really need to pick up.
  10. Jason Yeager – Was seventh to sing. Randy thought it was “pitchy” and “very karaoke.” Paula thought he didn’t pick a “singer’s song.” Simon thought it was “awkward and ordinary.” It wasn’t good. It was very cheesy.

So, the TVaholic would send Jason Yeager and Danny Noriega home after last night’s performances from the top 10 guys on Season 7 of American Idol. But, I doubt, again, that Noriega will be going home, as it will be Yeager and Castro or Carrico. Was half right last week, on the boys’ side, with who would be going home. We will see how I do this week?

How did you think the top 10 guys did last night? Who is your favorite? Who do you think will be going home? Leave your picks in the comments.
