90210 (The CW): Series Premiere. A guy becomes the new principal at West Beverly Hills High School, where he went to school and in so doing, returns to his childhood home. He brings along his wife, daughter, and adopted son. His main reason for returning is to care for his mother, a former TV star. Runs two hours. Check out some photos from the episode.

ABC, CBS, and NBC all have Republican National Convention coverage tonight, but it plays depending on your time zone. Like here on the west coast they are all on at 7:00 p.m. PT.

Solid Selections

House (FOX): Repeat. House is in a bus accident and can’t remember a few hours of his past. He sets out to remember, because he thinks he saw someone who was seriously sick right before it happened, in the last two episodes from last season, “House’s Head” and “Wilson’s Heart.” Runs two hours.

Cable Choices

Secret Life on the American Teenager (ABC Family): New. It’s a “Back to School Special.” Plays again later.

Greek (ABC Family): New. It’s a “Crush Landing” for some after secret relationships are revealed. Plays again later. Enter to win a Greek Prize Pack that includes a DVD set, t-shirt, Frisbee and a drink cozy.

The Shield (FX): Season Premiere. Vic is dealing with threats to his family and the prospect of losing his badge. A federal agent comes to Farmington to investigate the local escalation in violence from the drug cartels. Runs 68 minutes. Plays twice. Read our review and see some photos from the episode.

Other Options

  • The Cleaner (A&E): New. A friend of Williams asks him to help in the case of one of his students who is using heroin and prescription drugs, but runs into problems with the boy’s father. Plays twice and again later twice.
  • Eureka (Sci Fi): Repeat. Last week’s episode, “Show Me the Mummy,” replays. The first four episodes of the season play right before.
  • Food Detectives (Food Network): New. More food myths are looked into. Plays again later.
  • NCIS (CBS): Repeat. The team is tracking a killer, in “Judgment Day, Part 1″ from this past season.
  • The Office (TBS): Repeats. It is time for a little “Women’s Appreciation” and then some “Beach Games.”

Sports Notes

  • USA has U.S. Open Tennis coverage.
